March Break Vacation Chaos
North American airports prepared for the onslaught of the annual March Break vacation exodus as families and students head south for fun in the sun during the week long school holiday. The most popular March Break destination is Florida, and in particular the Fort Lauderdale and Miami areas.
Fort Lauderdale is situated on the southeast coast of Florida, centrally located between Miami and Palm Beach. Encompassing more than 33 square miles with a population of nearly 180,000, Fort Lauderdale is the largest of Broward County’s 30 municipalities and the seventh largest city in Florida.
Action central during the annual march break is Fort Lauderdale beaches and oceanfront resorts. The city has more than seven miles of sparkling beaches and Fort Lauderdale’s award-winning wavewall and signature beachfront promenade highlight Fort Lauderdale’s world famous coastline, which is punctuated by an array of shops, restaurants, sidewalk cafes and entertainment venues. Beachgoers can participate in a wide range of activities from boating, wind surfing, jet skiing and volleyball to snorkeling, scuba diving, deep-sea fishing and rollerblading.
